Built To Spill

"You in Reverse" is the sixth studio album by American indie rock band Built to Spill. The album was released on April 11, 2006, via Warner Bros. Records. It was the band's first album since 2001's "Ancient Melodies of the Future", marking the longest period between their studio releases. The album marks a departure from the band's previous work as they expanded their sound with looser, more expansive compositions and experimentation with a slide guitar. "You in Reverse" was recorded via a method that contrasted with the band's previous way of working; instead of entering the studio with a batch of completed songs, the band worked on them while in the studio. The recording sessions for "You in Reverse" spanned two years, as the band took a relaxed, methodical approach to crafting and refining the album. Parts of the album were recorded at frontman Doug Martsch’s home studio. Upon release, the album garnered positive reviews from music critics who praised its expansive sound and engaging songwriting. The album performed well chart-wise, peaking at number 63 on the Billboard 200, the highest position in the band's career. The tracks like "Goin' Against Your Mind", "Conventional Wisdom", and "Liar" encompass the band's characteristic guitar jams which was predominantly admired throughout the album. The band went on a major tour promoting the album, introducing their fan base to their evolved sound.
