Eagles

"On the Border" is the third studio album by American rock group the Eagles, released in 1974. The album marked a shift for the band from their more laid-back country rock style to a harder rock sound. It features the hit singles "Already Gone", "James Dean" and "Best of My Love", with the latter reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Eagles employed two different producers, Bill Szymczyk and Glyn Johns, for the album. The band had previously worked with Johns on their first two albums, but they felt his approach was too restrained and they wanted a rockier sound, thus brought in Szymczyk. The album was recorded at two different studios - the Record Plant in Los Angeles, California, and the Criterion Studios, Miami, Florida. Different studios were used to capture the sound the band desired. "On the Border" reached number 17 on the Billboard album chart and the band garnered their first Grammy nomination for 'Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus' for "Best of My Love". The album has been certified multi-platinum by RIAA in the U.S. It received positive reviews from critics, being appreciated for its blend of country, rock, and folk.
