"Lex Hives" is the fifth studio album by Swedish rock band The Hives, released on June 1, 2012, through Disques Hives, Universal Music, and Columbia Records. The album was self-produced by the band and mixed by Andrew Scheps, with additional tracks mixed by Dave Sardy and Joe Zook. The deluxe version of the album includes bonus tracks available as digital downloads, produced by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age.
This album marks the final appearance of bassist Dr. Matt Destruction, who left the band due to health reasons in late 2013. He was replaced by Johan Gustafsson, known as "The Johan and Only." The title "Lex Hives" references the ancient Roman concept of creating and accepting a system or body of laws as a standard.
The album continues The Hives' signature energetic rock style, contributing to their legacy as a dynamic and influential rock band.
