"Gold Cobra" is the fifth studio album by American nu metal band Limp Bizkit. Released on June 28, 2011, the album marked the band's return to the original lineup for the first time since their 2000 album "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water", with guitarist Wes Borland back in the mix.
The album was a long time in the making, with the first announcement of its recording dating back to 2009. It grapples with themes of maturity and resolving past demons, drawing upon blends of metal, rock and hip hop. "Gold Cobra" features 13 tracks in the main edition and up to 16 songs in the deluxe edition. It includes singles "Shotgun", "Gold Cobra", and "Bring It Back".
The album received mixed reviews from music critics. It managed to chart in several countries, peaking at number 16 on the US Billboard 200. Despite the years of anticipation, the album was seen as failing to recapture the raw energy and huge popularity of their early 2000s work. Nonetheless, for fans, "Gold Cobra" presented a mature, evolved sound of the band while still maintaining its distinctive hard-hitting style.
