The Chameleons

"Strange Times" is the third studio album by the English rock band the Chameleons, released on September 1, 1986, in the United Kingdom and later on September 29, 1986, in the United States through Geffen Records. The North American vinyl release initially included a bonus LP featuring six non-album tracks, which were later included as bonus tracks on the CD release in 1993. The album produced two singles: "Tears" and "Swamp Thing". Critically, "Strange Times" was well-received, often noted for its dreamy and atmospheric qualities. Post-Punk.com described it as one of 100 essential dream pop releases, highlighting the album's departure from the band's earlier angst and its strong collection of songs. Following "Strange Times" and the subsequent EP "Tony Fletcher Walked on Water" (recorded in 1987, released in 1990), the Chameleons disbanded due to internal tensions among band members. This marked a hiatus that lasted nearly 15 years before the group would reunite or release new studio material.
