Psychedelic Furs

"All of This and Nothing" is a compilation album by the British rock band, The Psychedelic Furs, released in 1988. The album includes some of the band's biggest hits from their early albums, along with a selection of B-sides, remixes, and rarities. Coming in the middle of a successful career that had begun in the late 1970s, this album gives an overview of The Psychedelic Furs' progression and growth as artists and musicians. Notable tracks include popular hits like "Love My Way," "Heaven," "Heartbreak Beat," and "The Ghost in You.” The band, known for their unique blend of post-punk and new wave sounds, fused with poetic lyrics, was formed by brothers Richard and Tim Butler in 1977. With Richard on vocals, The Psychedelic Furs stood out for their distinctive rock sound that incorporated elements of punk and new wave. By the time "All of This and Nothing" was released, the band had established a solid fan base, both in their homeland, the UK, and internationally, particularly in the USA. However, unlike most greatest hits compilations, "All of This and Nothing" does not follow a chronological order, instead offering an eclectic and diverse mix of energies and moods through its versatile tracklist. The album showcases the experimentations the band went through in their musical journey, featuring elements from various genres such as punk, rock, and new wave. This collection demonstrates the depth and breadth of The Psychedelic Furs' music, making "All Of This And Nothing" more than just a retrospective album, but rather a musical reflection of a band that was not afraid to innovate and experiment.
