"Midnight to Midnight" is the fifth studio album by English rock band the Psychedelic Furs, released in February 1987 by Columbia Records. The album, returning to a more hard rock direction, was not as successful as the prior efforts of the band; however, it scored one top-40 single in the United States, "Heartbreak Beat", which reached No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The production on "Midnight to Midnight" is more elaborate and polished than their previous works. Richard Butler, the band's lead singer, reportedly regretted this direction and felt the album to be the band's worst. Despite his sentiment, the album reached 12th position in the UK Albums Chart, which was their highest UK charting position at the time.
Immediately following the release of the album, drummer Vince Ely left the band and was officially replaced by Paul Garisto for the subsequent promotional tour. The band, which was originally formed in 1977, continued to evolve musically and experiment in the years following this release. This album represents a critical point in their evolution as a group.
