Bloc Party

"Intimacy" is the third studio album released by British indie rock band Bloc Party. The album was announced on 18 August, 2008 and released on 21 October, 2008 on the band's own label, Wichita Recordings. "Intimacy" was primarily recorded in two weeks at several locations in London, England, after which it went through varying periods of production and mixing work. Paul Epworth and Jacknife Lee, both of whom had previously worked with the band, served as producers. The album features a wide range of musical styles, mixing electronic music, shoegazing, and arena rock elements. Lyrically, the album revolves around themes of relationships and love; the dissolution of singer/guitarist Kele Okereke's long-term relationship informs much of Intimacy's lyricism. Two songs from the album, "Mercury" and "Talons", were released as singles prior to its release with respective music videos. Bloc Party aimed to create an album that appealed to the aesthetic of a particular record store instead of an album that simply fit into their discography. Overall, critical reception to the album was positive, though some criticized its inconsistency. It peaked at number 8 on the UK Albums Chart.
