ABBA

"Greatest Hits Vol. 2" is a compilation album by ABBA, released on October 29, 1979, to coincide with their tour in North America and Europe. It served as a follow-up to their first Greatest Hits album from 1975 and showcased hits recorded between 1976 and 1979, featuring material from their albums Arrival, The Album, Voulez-Vous, and the non-album single "Summer Night City." The album includes several significant tracks, including the brand-new single "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)," which was recorded in August 1979. Other notable songs featured are "Angeleyes," which was successful in the UK, and "Rock Me," which had previously been released but gained popularity during the band's 1979 world tour. Greatest Hits Vol. 2 was commercially successful, reaching number one on various charts, making it ABBA's second chart-topping album of 1979, following Voulez-Vous. The compilation helped reinforce ABBA's status as a leading pop group and contributed to their continued popularity during their peak years. The album was initially released on CD in 1982 by Polydor and later in the US by Atlantic Records in 1983, although it was eventually discontinued in favor of the more comprehensive ABBA Gold collection in the early 1990s.
