"No Protection" is a 1995 dub remix of Massive Attack's second album, "Protection," created by British dub producer Mad Professor. The remix offers a different take on the original tracks, infusing them with a distinctive dub sound that emphasizes rhythm and atmosphere.
Mad Professor was initially contacted by Massive Attack to remix a song for a single from "Protection." After completing the remix, the band invited him to explore more of the album for additional remixes. This led to a complete track-by-track remix of nearly the entire album. Mad Professor heavily edited the original material, creating a slow, pulsating mix that emphasized the beat, utilized extensive reverb, and featured vocals that faded in and out in classic dub style, with many tracks being predominantly instrumental.
