"The Beast Inside" is the second studio album by the English alternative rock band, Inspiral Carpets. It was released in April 1991, following the band's successful debut album, "Life," which came out in 1990.
Contrary to its predecessor, "The Beast Inside" has a darker, more aggressive tone, reflecting the band's growing maturity and evolution in their sound. The album peaked at number 5 on the UK Albums Chart, showcasing its significant reach and popularity during its release time. One of the album's most well-known songs is "Caravan," which was also released as a single.
Inspiral Carpets was one of the leading bands in the Madchester movement, along with bands like the Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses. Their music was a blend of alternative rock, psychedelic rock, and indie rock, with a distinct organ sound, which set them apart from other bands of the era.
Despite a split in 1995, the band members got back together in 2003 and have since continued to perform live. Unfortunately, in 2014, their drummer Craig Gill passed away. "The Beast Inside" remains an iconic representation of the band's distinct sound and contribution to the Madchester movement in the British music scene.
