Sting

The Soul Cages is the third full-length studio album released by Sting. It was released on January 21, 1991, and marked a major shift in his artistic direction. After the loss of both of his parents, Sting started to explore complex themes of death, mortality, and personal mythology, which he used as the base themes for the album. The Soul Cages is a concept album that focuses on the transitional period of loss, introspection, and eventually, the resurrection. Musically, the album incorporated innovative styles, merging jazz with pop and rock elements. Some notable tracks include "All This Time", "Mad About You", "Jeremiah Blues (Part 1)" and the album's title track "The Soul Cages". The album was both commercially successful and critically acclaimed, peaking at number one on the UK Albums Chart and number two on the US Billboard 200. The album also won Sting a Grammy Award in 1992 for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Male. Despite the overarching theme of loss and mourning, Sting has described the album as therapeutic, allowing him to work through his grief after his parents' deaths.
