Sting and the Police

"The Very Best of... Sting & The Police" is a compilation album released by A&M Records on November 3, 1997. It features a mix of tracks from both Sting's work with The Police and his solo career. The original version of the album included a new track: a remix of The Police's 1978 song "Roxanne" by rap artist Sean "Puffy" Combs. In 1998, the album was reissued by PolyGram International, with the track "Russians" removed and three additional songs added: "Seven Days," "Fragile," and "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da." The European edition released by A&M retained the original tracks, including "Russians," but included the newly added songs. In 2002, another updated edition of the album was released by Universal. This version saw further changes, including the omission of "Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot," "Russians," and the "Roxanne '97 (Puff Daddy Remix)," and the addition of "Brand New Day," "Desert Rose," and "So Lonely." Both "Brand New Day" and "Desert Rose" were released after the original 1997 compilation, as part of Sting's 1999 album Brand New Day.
