"Last Splash" is the second studio album by the American alternative rock band, The Breeders. It was released on August 31, 1993, originally through 4AD in the United Kingdom and Elektra Records in the United States.
The album was produced by Kim Deal and Mark Freegard, and it features various musical styles, from grunge to pop. "Last Splash" is perhaps best known for the hit single "Cannonball". Upon its release, the song peaked at number two on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, propelling the album to reach platinum status.
The Breeders was originally formed as a side project by Kim Deal of the Pixies and Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses in 1989. However, by the time "Last Splash" was recorded, the group's lineup had undergone multiple changes, and it primarily consisted of Kim Deal, her sister Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs, and Jim MacPherson.
"Last Splash" was critically well received, and was also nominated for the Alternative Music Album at the 37th Annual Grammy Awards. After the release of the album, the band went on its Last Splash tour and were chosen to open for Nirvana's In Utero tour.
