R.E.M.

"Live at the Olympia" is a live album by American alternative rock band R.E.M., recorded during their five-night residency at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin from June 30 to July 5, 2007. Released on October 27, 2009, the album captures the band in a series of "working rehearsals," where they debuted songs from their upcoming album Accelerate, many of which were still in progress at the time. The album features all tracks from Accelerate except for "Hollow Man" and "Sing for the Submarine," totaling 39 songs across two CDs. Additionally, a DVD titled This Is Not a Show, directed by Vincent Moon, accompanies the album, providing a documentary-style look at the band's performances. To promote the release, R.E.M.'s Dublin website offered streaming clips of several tracks, and National Public Radio streamed the entire album prior to its official release. A digital EP, Reckoning Songs from the Olympia, featuring four tracks from R.E.M.'s 1984 album Reckoning, was also released on July 7, 2009. Overall, Live at the Olympia showcases R.E.M.'s dynamic live presence and offers fans a glimpse into the creative process behind their music during this period.
