Elton John

"Diamonds" is a greatest hits compilation album by English musician Elton John, released on 10 November 2017. Spanning his career from 1970 to 2016, the album was released in multiple formats, including a single-disc version, a 2-CD edition, a 3-CD deluxe box set, and a 2-LP vinyl version. It marks the first career-spanning compilation of John's music since Rocket Man: The Definitive Hits in 2007. The album was released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of John's collaboration with lyricist Bernie Taupin, which began in 1967. Although their partnership started in the late '60s, the oldest hit featured on Diamonds is "Your Song" from John's 1970 self-titled album. The 3-CD deluxe box set includes a 72-page hardback book with annotations that detail the stories behind each track, along with a set of five postcards featuring illustrations of Elton John by contemporary artist Richard Kilroy. The album was well-received commercially, achieving notable sales figures. By June 2024, Diamonds was certified quintuple Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry for sales of 1.5 million units in the UK. In the United States, it received double Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America in November 2023, for 1 million units sold, counting each disc of the double album separately for certification purposes. The compilation includes a mix of Elton John's most iconic songs, showcasing his wide-ranging musical career and his partnership with Taupin.
