Tina Turner

"Twenty Four Seven" is the tenth and final solo studio album by Tina Turner, first released by Parlophone in Europe in October 1999 and later by Virgin Records in North America in February 2000. Like her previous album, Wildest Dreams, Turner collaborated with a team of British producers including Mark Taylor, Brian Rawling, Johnny Douglas, Terry Britten, and the production team Absolute. Bryan Adams features on both the title track and "Without You." The album received mixed reviews, with critics praising Turner's vocal performance but describing the material as formulaic. Commercially, it was successful, topping charts in Switzerland and reaching the top ten in many other countries. In the U.S., it achieved Turner's highest first-week sales at the time. The lead single, "When the Heartache Is Over," became a top-ten hit, while the Twenty Four Seven Tour was the highest-grossing tour of 2000. This album was Turner's last full-length studio release before her death in 2023. Several singles supported the album, starting with "When the Heartache Is Over," which was released in October 1999. Written by Graham Stack and John Reid, the song was a hit on both pop and dance charts. The follow-up single, "Whatever You Need," released in January 2000, was less successful but still made it to the top twenty in several countries. A cover of "Don't Leave Me This Way" served as the album's second single in German-speaking regions. Turner's Twenty Four Seven Tour ran from March to December 2000 and grossed over $120 million, making it the highest-grossing tour of that year. The album debuted at number one in Switzerland and reached the top five in Germany, Austria, and Norway, among others. It was certified triple Gold in Germany for sales over 450,000 units. Prior to its North American release, the album had sold around two million copies. In the U.S., Twenty Four Seven peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 60,000 units, marking Turner's biggest first-week sales at that time. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA and sold 300,000 copies in its first eight weeks. By January 2014, it had sold 517,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. In Canada, it reached number nine on the RPM Top Albums chart, becoming Turner's highest-charting album since 1986.
