"Rapture of the Deep" is the 18th studio album by Deep Purple, released in Europe on October 24, 2005, and in the US on November 1, 2005. This album marks the fourth studio effort since guitarist Steve Morse joined the band and features keyboardist Don Airey. Produced by Mike Bradford, who also produced the previous album Bananas, it received generally positive reviews from critics and fans alike, with some sources giving it high marks while others were more critical.
The album was Deep Purple's first release under the German label Edel Records and reached No. 43 on Billboard's US Top Independent Albums chart, selling 2,500 copies in its first week in the US and 3,500 copies in the UK. It also charted in the top 20 across several European charts. The title track was released as a promo single, and "Money Talks" showcased Ian Gillan's wide vocal range, featuring a deep bass vocal and a high-pitched scream in its coda.
