Pixies

"Beneath the Eyrie" is the seventh studio album by American alternative rock band Pixies, released on September 13, 2019, by BMG/Infectious. Produced by Tom Dalgety, the album features singles like "On Graveyard Hill" and "Catfish Kate." It was recorded at Dreamland Recording Studios, a remote, converted church in upstate New York, which influenced the album's Gothic and mystical themes. Vocalist and guitarist Black Francis mentioned that the setting inspired him to explore themes of life, death, and the surreal, aiming to blend with the spirit world and create a more mystical atmosphere in the music. "Beneath the Eyrie" is the seventh studio album by Pixies, released on September 13, 2019, by BMG/Infectious. Produced by Tom Dalgety, who also worked on their 2016 album Head Carrier, the album features singles "On Graveyard Hill" (released June 3, 2019) and "Catfish Kate" (released August 6, 2019). The album's title was inspired by a large bald eagle's nest discovered near the back of Dreamland Recording Studios, a converted church in upstate New York where the album was recorded. The sight of the eagle’s nest, alongside the studio’s Gothic ambiance, influenced the album's mystical and surreal themes. The cover art for Beneath the Eyrie was designed by Vaughan Oliver, who had been the band's visual artist since Come On Pilgrim in 1987. This album marked Oliver’s final collaboration with Pixies before his death in December 2019. A Deluxe Edition of the album was released on February 24, 2020.
