"MTV Unplugged" is a live album by the American rock band Pearl Jam, initially recorded on March 16, 1992, for the MTV television series MTV Unplugged. The performance was released to the public on October 23, 2020, after a limited release in November 2019 as part of Record Store Day. This album marks the first time that the band's MTV Unplugged performance has been made available on both vinyl and CD formats.
The concert, originally aired as part of the MTV Unplugged series, is about 50 minutes and 43 seconds long. Although the band performed a cover of "Rockin' in the Free World" by Neil Young during the set, this song was not included on the official release—neither in the video, CD, nor vinyl versions. Additionally, the track order in the released version of the album is incorrect: the last two songs, "Even Flow" and "Porch," are swapped in sequence, with "Rockin' in the Free World" being the final song performed, although it doesn't appear in the final tracklist.
This release was a significant moment for Pearl Jam fans, as it offered a chance to experience the band's historic 1992 acoustic performance in a new format, after it had previously been broadcast only once.
