Ultravox

"Extended Ultravox" is a compilation album by the British synth-rock band, Ultravox. Released in 1998, the album provides a thorough presentation of the band's musical footprint, featuring twelve-inch remix versions of their most famous songs. The compilation features fan favourites like "Vienna", "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes", "Reap The Wild Wind", among other hits. Formed in London in 1973, Ultravox was a pioneering force in popularizing the New Wave and synth-pop genres. At the time of the album's release, the band consisted of Warren Cann, Chris Cross, Billy Currie, and lead vocalist Midge Ure, who had replaced original singer John Foxx in 1979. This collection serves as a sort of a bridge between their earlier, experimental punk-influenced music, and their later, more melodic synthesizer-driven work. While some listeners might find the extended versions ponderous, for die-hard Ultravox fans, this album provides a definitive and comprehensive presentation of the band's musical range and creativity during this notable period in their career.
