"The Dance" is a live album by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released on August 19, 1997. It marked the first full-length concert by the band since the return of Christine McVie, following her departure in 1995. The album was recorded for an MTV special at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California over two nights in May, featuring a mix of iconic hits and new tracks.
"The Dance" became a commercial and critical success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, a first for the band. It has since been certified 5x multi-platinum by RIAA for selling over five million copies in the U.S. Moreover, it garnered three Grammy nominations—Best Pop Performance, Best Rock Performance, and Album of the Year. As of now, "The Dance" remains one of the best-selling live albums of all time.
Bringing together the band's best hits such as "Rhiannon", "Go Your Own Way", "Don't Stop" and "Tusk", as well as lesser-known songs like "Bleed to Love Her", "Silver Springs", and "I'm So Afraid", the album represented a harmonious blend of the old and new. It offered fans a generous dose of nostalgia while also indicating the band's readiness to move forward. This album then successfully sparked a significant resurgence in their popularity.
