Bauhaus

"Go Away White" is the fifth and final studio album by English post-punk rock band, Bauhaus. Released in March 2008, it marked the end of Bauhaus' reunion, being their first studio album since 1983's "Burning from the Inside". Instead of serving as a new start for the band, the album was more of a final statement, as the band announced its end just weeks prior to the album's release. Recording for "Go Away White" took place in 18 days without producer's assistance, a first for the band. According to band members, the recording process was intensely emotional and ultimately therapeutic, quickly bringing to the surface longstanding disagreements and allowing the band to finally address them. Musically, the album is a progressive mix of the band's post-punk, gothic rock, and experimental styles. Containing 10 tracks, songs range from heavy guitar-driven numbers to more atmospheric and eerie soundscapes. Despite the turmoil within the band, the album received largely positive reviews from critics, with many praising the band's ability to retain their classic sound while still pushing boundaries. The album did well commercially too, reaching number 105 on the US Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Top Independent Albums chart. Despite its success, the band members have all since moved on to different personal and professional projects, closing the chapter of Bauhaus for good.
