Nine Inch Nails

"Bad Witch" is the ninth studio album by Nine Inch Nails, released on June 22, 2018, through The Null Corporation and Capitol Records. It concludes a trilogy of releases that began with the EPs "Not the Actual Events" in 2016 and "Add Violence" in 2017. Produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, it marked a departure from their usual production collaborator Alan Moulder, who was credited with mixing on previous albums. The album introduces saxophone performances by Reznor, a stylistic shift notable compared to their earlier works. It draws influence from David Bowie's final album, "Blackstar", with Reznor acknowledging Bowie as a primary inspiration. Clocking in at just over 30 minutes, "Bad Witch" is Nine Inch Nails' shortest full-length release to date. Critically, "Bad Witch" received positive reviews upon release, praised for its experimental nature, production quality, and the influence drawn from Bowie. It reached No. 12 on both the US and UK charts and achieved top-five positions on various Billboard charts. The album's single, "God Break Down the Door", supported the "Cold and Black and Infinite North America 2018 Tour", which was announced concurrently with the album's release.
