Soundgarden

"Fopp" is the second EP by the American rock band Soundgarden, originally released in August 1988 through Sub Pop Records. The EP showcased Soundgarden's early grunge sound, characterized by heavy guitar riffs and raw energy, which would become synonymous with the Seattle music scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Later on, "Fopp" was combined with Soundgarden's first EP, "Screaming Life," which was released in 1987. This combined release was titled "Screaming Life/Fopp" and came out as a compilation album in 1990. This compilation allowed fans to access both early EPs in one package, highlighting Soundgarden's early development and their influence on the emerging grunge movement. The tracks on "Fopp" include a cover of the Funkadelic song "Fopp," which showcases Soundgarden's ability to blend rock with funk influences, demonstrating their versatility and eclectic musical tastes even in their formative years. Overall, "Fopp" and its subsequent inclusion in the "Screaming Life/Fopp" compilation are important milestones in Soundgarden's discography, providing a glimpse into the band's early creativity and laying the groundwork for their later success in the alternative rock and grunge genres.
