The Rolling Stones

"Stripped" is a live album by the Rolling Stones, released in November 1995 after the band’s Voodoo Lounge Tour. It blends live performances with acoustic re-recordings of songs from their extensive catalog. The album features six live tracks and eight studio recordings. The live tracks, taken from four concerts in 1995, include a memorable cover of Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" — the album's first single. The live performances were recorded at smaller venues like Paradiso in Amsterdam, L'Olympia in Paris, and Brixton Academy in London. The studio tracks were acoustic re-imaginings of classic Stones songs, recorded without overdubs, adding an intimate, raw feel to familiar tracks. The exception to this is the cover of Willie Dixon’s "Little Baby." These studio sessions were recorded in two locations: Toshiba-EMI Studios in Tokyo (March 1995) and Estudios Valentim de Carvalho in Lisbon (July 1995). In addition to the album, some CD versions of Stripped included an enhanced portion with videos of rehearsals for "Tumbling Dice" and "Shattered," an alternate performance of "Like a Rolling Stone," and interviews with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood. Stripped was well-received, reaching No. 9 on the charts in both the UK and US. It was certified platinum in the US, and the single "Like a Rolling Stone" charted at No. 12 in the UK and became a hit on US rock radio. A second single, "Wild Horses," followed in early 1996. The album was also notable as the Rolling Stones' second release with Virgin Records. In June 2016, an expanded edition of Stripped called Totally Stripped was released. This version includes a documentary film about the making of the original project, as well as a new compilation of live concert highlights. It features 13 previously unreleased live tracks, alongside one song from the original Stripped album. The package came in various formats, including DVD/Blu-ray and CD, with a deluxe five-disc version that included complete concert films and a 60-page booklet. The artwork for both albums was designed by The Design Corporation, with photography by renowned Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn.
