"Highway Companion" is the third and final solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Tom Petty, released on July 25, 2006. The album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and was produced by Jeff Lynne, a former bandmate from the Traveling Wilburys, who also produced Petty's acclaimed first solo album, Full Moon Fever. Released through Rick Rubin's American Recordings label and Warner Bros. Records, Highway Companion featured tracks "Saving Grace" and "Big Weekend," which were available on iTunes prior to the album's full release.
This album marked Petty's only release for American Recordings, as the label transitioned to Columbia Records distribution in 2007, while Warner Bros. retained Petty's contract. The iTunes version included additional content such as a live version of "Saving Grace," the music video, and an interactive booklet. In interviews, Petty indicated that *Highway Companion* would be his last solo album.
