Queens of the Stone Age

"Songs for the Deaf" is the third studio album by Queens of the Stone Age, released on August 27, 2002, by Interscope Records. Featuring guest musicians such as Dave Grohl on drums, it was also the last album to include Nick Oliveri on bass. The album is a loose concept piece that simulates a drive through the California desert from Los Angeles to Joshua Tree, tuning into fictional radio stations from various towns along the route. The album received critical acclaim and marked Queens of the Stone Age's first gold certification in the United States. It achieved platinum status in Europe, selling over one million copies and earning certification from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry in 2008. The album spawned three singles: "No One Knows," "Go with the Flow," and "First It Giveth."
