"Communiqué" is the second studio album by British rock band Dire Straits, released on 05 June 1979 by Vertigo Records internationally. The band, consisting of members Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, John Illsley, and Pick Withers, recorded this album at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, following a successful debut with their self-titled album.
Produced by Barry Beckett and Jerry Wexler, the album reached number one on album charts in Germany, New Zealand, and Sweden and number 11 in the United States. Its genre is mainly within the realm of rock, with elements of roots rock and pub rock featured throughout its nine tracks.
