Foo Fighters

"Skin and Bones" is a live acoustic album by the Foo Fighters, released on November 7, 2006. The album captures a series of performances recorded on August 29, 30, and 31, 2006, at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. It features a stripped-down yet expanded eight-piece lineup, which includes violinist and singer Petra Haden, former Germs/Nirvana/Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear, Wallflowers keyboardist Rami Jaffee, and percussionist Drew Hester. Haden and Jaffee had previously contributed to the Foo Fighters' 2005 album In Your Honor. The 15-track album features a mix of Foo Fighters hits and deeper cuts, all presented in an acoustic setting. The live shows also included a three-song encore, which showcases Dave Grohl's solo acoustic performances of "Friend of a Friend", "Best of You", and "Everlong". Skin and Bones debuted at number 21 on the Billboard 200, selling around 49,000 copies in its first week, which was also its peak position on the chart. In addition to the album, a DVD of the original shows, featuring 21 songs, was released on November 28, 2006. Directed by Danny Clinch, the DVD includes a performance at the Pantages Theatre and features a special appearance by Clinch himself, who plays harmonica on "Another Round"—a song he had previously contributed to during the recording of In Your Honor. The UK version of the release is a two-disc set, which also includes the band's 2006 electric performance at Hyde Park. The title track, "Skin and Bones", had originally been released as a B-side to the Foo Fighters' "DOA" single and was also included on their Five Songs and a Cover EP.
