Jimi Hendrix

"Hendrix in the West" is a live album by Jimi Hendrix, which was released posthumously in 1972 by Polydor Records. The collection is an amalgamation of performances recorded at varying locations during Jimi's 1969–70 concert tours, showcasing the theretofore unreleased material. Crucially important in his discography, the album primarily exhibits superb live renditions of already known studio recorded tracks, but also features "Blue Suede Shoes," a Carl Perkins’ rockabilly classic. The LP is a true testament to Hendrix’s genius. It was engineered by Eddie Kramer, who also worked on most of Hendrix’s discography. The original album was reissued in September 2011 as part of Hendrix's second wave of posthumous releases under Sony Legacy. "Hendrix in the West" went certified Gold in the U.S by RIAA, and has historically been well received by fans and critics alike, celebrated for its raw and aggressive (yet, melodically controlled) sound. It is often seen as one of the best examples of Hendrix's ability as a live performer.
