"The Jimi Hendrix Experience" is a box set released in 2000 by MCA, featuring alternative recordings, live performances, and rarities by the British-American rock band. While much of the material had been previously released, the set includes some previously unreleased tracks, such as live versions of "Killing Floor" and "The Wind Cries Mary." It features alternative takes from Hendrix's studio albums, including tracks from First Rays of the New Rising Sun, and live performances from notable events like the Monterey Pop Festival, Royal Albert Hall, and the Isle of Wight, including a near-complete version of Hendrix in the West. Some recordings were slightly modified to enhance sound quality, though the changes were minimal.
A special edition released on 28 November 2005 under Universal Music Group included an exclusive bonus DVD with a 30-minute documentary titled "Hendrix and the Blues," part of the Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues series. This DVD also featured additional live tracks, such as "Johnny B. Goode" from the Berkeley Community Theatre and "Red House" and "In from the Storm" from the Isle of Wight.
The box set was re-issued in August 2013 with four additional bonus tracks.
