"Blur 21" is a comprehensive box set released on July 30, 2012, to mark the 21st anniversary of Blur's debut album Leisure. The release coincided with the band's performance at Hyde Park during the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony.
The main version of the box set, Blur 21 CD/DVD/7", includes eighteen CDs, three DVDs, a vinyl 7" record featuring the early Seymour track "Superman," and a hardcover book detailing the band's complete biography. The CDs feature all seven of Blur's studio albums, with the first five remastered and each album accompanied by a new second disc of B-side material. Additionally, there are four 'rarities' discs containing mostly previously unreleased material. The DVDs feature Showtime, The Singles Night, and a new rarities disc.
Another edition, the Blur 21 Vinyl Edition, was released simultaneously and contains the band's seven studio albums on heavyweight vinyl. Each LP is repackaged as a double album except for Leisure, which is a single album. This vinyl edition does not include previously unreleased material.
The Blur 21 CD/DVD/7" box set features several long-awaited releases such as "Pap Pop," "Beached Whale," and "Sir Elton John's Cock." However, some previously released songs like "Colours" from the Think Tank sessions, and unreleased tracks such as "Death Metal" and "For Old Time's Sake," are not included. Notably, some b-sides and material from the Bustin' + Dronin' live recording and remix album are also absent.
The set includes a special code for downloading all the music content as MP3s, as well as digital versions of all Blurb magazine issues, extra content, audio commentary, and unreleased footage for each album.
