"Forth" is the fourth and final studio album released by the English alternative rock band, The Verve. It was released internationally on August 25, 2008, and a day later in North America. The band reformed in 2007, almost a decade after their split in 1999, and "Forth" is the culmination of their reunion.
Following their return to the music scene, The Verve embarked on a tour before entering Metropolis Studios in London to record their fourth album. During the process, the band released a series of videos documenting their progress in the studio.
"Forth" embodies the band's alternative rock style while incorporating psychedelic rock and space rock elements. Despite the anticipation surrounding the release, the album received mixed reviews from critics. Some praised its ambitious sound, while others criticized its perceived lack of focus. The lead single, "Love Is Noise," however, was largely successful, peaking at number four in the UK Singles Chart.
Commercially, "Forth" debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and reached double platinum certification. Despite the initial success, the band announced an 'indefinite hiatus' in 2009, marking "Forth" as their last studio album to date. It therefore remains a significant part of The Verve's discography, offering a glimpse into the band's progression and final interpretation of alternative and psychedelic rock.
