Aretha Franklin

"You" is the twenty-second studio album by American singer Aretha Franklin, released on October 16, 1975, by Atlantic Records. As her final album with the Alelantic Records label, it marked the end of Franklin's successful run as a star. The album was a departure from the soul music she was known for, instead experimenting with a more pop-oriented sound. The album features production from famed producers Jerry Wexler, Arif Mardin, and Tom Dowd. Despite its controversial sound, the album did spawn two hit singles; "Mr. D.J. (5 For The D.J.)" and the title track, "You" which became a Top 10 R&B Hit. Overall, the album peaked at number 83 on the Billboard 200 and number 11 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. However, Franklin soon shifted to a more sophisticated style of R&B under a new contract with Arista Records in 1980. Given the influential mark Franklin left on the music industry, the album "You" remains a significant piece of her extensive discography.
