Porcupine Tree

"Up the Downstair" is the second studio album by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, initially released in June 1993. Originally planned as a double album that included the song "Voyage 34" and other material later found on the "Staircase Infinities" EP (1994), it saw a significant re-release in 2005. This version was partially re-recorded, fully re-mixed, and remastered, featuring newly recorded drums by Gavin Harrison replacing the original electronic drums. The re-release also included the "Staircase Infinities" EP, forming a double album. Another double vinyl re-release followed on August 14, 2008, by Kscope Records, identical to the 2005 version but printed on colored vinyl and including the song "Phantoms" on the "Staircase Infinities" disc. Steven Wilson, the band's leader, described the album as a blend of influences from The Orb, Future Sound of London, Pink Floyd, and Ozric Tentacles, reflecting his eclectic tastes and disregard for genre boundaries.
