Porcupine Tree

"Closure/Continuation" is the eleventh studio album by the British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, marking their first studio release since 2009's "The Incident". Amidst speculation about the band's future following frontman Steven Wilson's solo career focus in 2010, the album was recorded discreetly over the course of a decade. The project was undertaken in secrecy by Wilson, Gavin Harrison, and Richard Barbieri, although it notably excluded longtime bassist Colin Edwin. The COVID-19 pandemic inadvertently provided the band members with the opportunity to finalize the album, which was completed in September 2021. Towards the end of that year, Porcupine Tree announced both their reformation and the release date of "Closure/Continuation" on June 24, 2022. Prior to the album's release, four singles were unveiled: "Harridan", "Of the New Day", "Herd Culling", and "Rats Return". Upon its release, "Closure/Continuation" achieved notable chart success, debuting at number two on the UK Albums Chart and reaching number one in Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. This achievement underscored Porcupine Tree's enduring appeal and the anticipation surrounding their return to the progressive rock scene after a lengthy hiatus. Overall, "Closure/Continuation" not only reaffirmed Porcupine Tree's place in the contemporary music landscape but also marked a significant milestone for fans eagerly awaiting new material from the band.
