"Images Du Futur" is the second studio album by the Canadian rock band Suuns. It was released on March 5, 2013, through Secretly Canadian. The band's lineup for this album includes Ben Shemie on guitar and vocals, Joe Yarmush on guitar and bass, Liam O'Neill on drums and percussion, and Max Henry on keyboards. Recorded in Montreal, the album was produced by Jace Lasek of The Besnard Lakes, who also worked on their debut album. "Images Du Futur" is noted for its experimental sound, combining elements of post-punk, electronic, and krautrock. The music is characterized by its use of heavy basslines, driving rhythms, and minimalistic yet intense arrangements. Lyrically, the album reflects on themes of futurism and societal change, which is highlighted by the tense and at times dystopian atmosphere present throughout the tracks. During its creation, the band was influenced by the protests and social upheaval taking place in Montreal, known as the "Maple Spring," which brought about an additional layer of urgency and depth to the record. The album was well-received by critics, praised for its innovative sound and cohesive vision. It helped to solidify Suuns' reputation as a cutting-edge band capable of pushing the boundaries of rock music. Tracks like "2020" and "Edie's Dream" illustrate the band’s talent for creating hypnotic and immersive soundscapes, making "Images Du Futur" a significant contribution to the indie and alternative music scenes of the early 2010s.
