"DSVII" is the eighth studio album by the French electronic music project M83, released on September 20, 2019. Inspired by the music and aesthetics of early video games and '80s science fiction and fantasy films, "DSVII" channels a strong sense of nostalgia. Main member Anthony Gonzalez crafted the album after a period of personal reflection and a rediscovery of older music that had initially inspired him. He focused heavily on creating soundscapes that evoke a sense of whimsy and timelessness, utilizing vintage synthesizers and a more organic production style.
