"Different Drummer" is the third and final studio album by the musical trio Isley Jasper Isley, consisting of members Chris Jasper, Marvin Isley, and Ernie Isley. Released in 1987, the album showcases the group's distinctive style, blending elements of R&B, soul, and funk.
Isley Jasper Isley formed as a splinter group from the larger Isley Brothers ensemble. They gained recognition in the mid-1980s, following the success of their hit "Caravan of Love" from their previous album. "Different Drummer" continues to explore themes of love, relationships, and individuality, all hallmarks of the trio's sound.
The album did not achieve the same level of commercial success as their earlier work, and shortly after its release, the group disbanded. Chris Jasper went on to pursue a solo career, while Ernie and Marvin rejoined the Isley Brothers.
The album, though not as prominent in the charts, remains a testament to the group's creative synergy during their brief period as a separate entity from the Isley Brothers.
