Crowded House

"Recurring Dream" is the name of the first greatest hits album released by New Zealand rock band Crowded House. The album was released on June 2, 1996, and includes most of their singles to that point, such as "Don't Dream It's Over," "Something So Strong," "Weather With You," and "Better Be Home Soon." The album represented the culmination of over a decade of work from the band, which was originally created in 1985. Crowded House was made up of Neil Finn, Tim Finn, Paul Hester, Nick Seymour, and Mark Hart. They gained international acclaim with their pop-influenced rock and memorable lyrics. "Recurring Dream" was an incredible success and received a positive response from critics and fans alike. The album peaked at number one in New Zealand and Australia and managed to make its way the UK Albums Chart, taking the number one spot. Despite the positive reaction, the band disbanded shortly after the release of "Recurring Dream" in the same year - a split announced during a charity concert at the Sydney Opera House. However, they did reform later in 2006 with a slightly different lineup and have remained active since. In addition to the original hits, the album also includes three new songs recorded with producer Mitchell Froom - "Instinct," "Not the Girl You Think You Are," and "Everything Is Good for You." These were the last songs recorded before their disbandment. To this day, it is one of the best-selling albums in Australia and is often regarded as a quintessential collection of Crowded House’s work.
