"Intriguer" is the sixth and final studio album of the popular rock band Crowded House. Released on 11 June 2010 in Australia and 13 June 2010 in the United Kingdom, the album represents the band's follow-up to "Time on Earth", which emerged after the group's original dissolution and then subsequent reunion.
"Intriguer" was produced by multiple Grammy Award winner Jim Scott, known for his work with The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tom Petty. Following a collaborative process, the songs were captured live to add depth and warmth to the sound. The album consists of ten tracks, including the lead single, "Saturday Sun". The band recorded the album in Roundhouse Studios, where they built a recording facility especially for the project.
The album marked the second Crowded House album to feature Matt Sherrod, the replacement of original drummer Paul Hester who passed away in 2005. "Intriguer" presents sounds more intricate and lush than its predecessor. The album's tone is a mix of strength and fragility, filled with engaging hooks, lyrical themes of lost innocence, love, and mortality and imbues psychedelic soundscapes.
On its release, "Intriguer" received positive reviews from critics and debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, certified gold by ARIA. It also reached No. 3 in New Zealand and No. 12 on the UK Albums Chart.
