Crowded House

"Woodface" is the third studio album by Australian rock band Crowded House. Released in July 1991, the album marks a significant change in the band's line-up, featuring the original members alongside the Finn brothers, Neil and Tim. This collaboration resulted in a distinctive sound, with the album's musical style featuring a rich blend of rock and pop with catchy melodies, intricate harmonics, and sophisticated arrangements. The creation of "Woodface" was not without challenges. Initially, the band encountered difficulties satisfying their recording company during the production phase. However, the decision to incorporate several tracks initially meant for the Finn brothers resulted in the unique, successful version of the album we know today. "Woodface" includes some of Crowded House's most recognized songs, such as "Weather With You," "It's Only Natural," and "Four Seasons in One Day". The album found significant success both commercially and critically. It topped the album chart in Australia, New Zealand, and several European countries, while also obtaining platinum status in multiple regions. Despite the success, Tim Finn left the band soon after the album release. Still, "Woodface" remains a significant chapter in Crowded House's history, and even decades after its release, it continues to be highly appreciated by critics and fans alike. Overall, "Woodface" stands as an iconic album within the late 20th-century rock-pop landscape, exemplifying Crowded House's talent for composing exceptionally emotive and memorable tunes.
