Enya

"Paint the Sky with Stars" is a compilation album by the Irish singer, songwriter, and musician Enya, released in 1997. The album brought together the best of Enya's work from her first four albums 'Enya', 'Watermark', 'Shepherd Moons', and 'The Memory of Trees', incorporating a range of her most popular songs as well as two new pieces: "Paint the Sky with Stars" and "Only If...". The choice of the title track, "Paint the Sky with Stars", is seen as a representation of what Enya's music does; it uses lush, ethereal soundscapes to paint a sonic picture as expansive as the sky itself. The album presents a comprehensive overview of Enya's distinctive style, which combines elements of ambient, new age, Celtic, and pop music. As with her previous albums, Enya's longtime collaborators, producer and arranger Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan, worked with her on this album. It was received well by critics and became an international success, selling more than 12 million copies worldwide. Throughout the album, Enya's beautiful and haunting vocals float over a delicately woven tapestry of keyboard, guitar, and subtle orchestration, creating an evocative, dreamlike experience. The two new tracks continue this stylistic tradition, and the rest of the album features fan favorites such as "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days." In summary, "Paint the Sky with Stars" serves as both an excellent introduction for those new to Enya's music and a great collection for longtime fans, capturing the enchanting and ethereal quality that has become her trademark.
