"Director's Cut" is the tenth studio album by English singer-songwriter and musician Kate Bush. Unveiled on 16 May 2011, it contains remixed and restructured versions of songs from her previous albums "The Red Shoes" (1993) and "The Sensual World" (1989). Bush held the reins of total creative control on "Director's Cut" as she produced all the songs and released it on her label Fish People, distributed by EMI records.
This album does not have new content, but rather the songs from "The Sensual World" and "The Red Shoes" have been re-recorded with new vocals and sometimes entirely new musical backings. The theme revolves around love, death, and relationships. Two of the reworked tracks, "Flower of the Mountain" and "Deeper Understanding" had their lyrics originally modified due to initial copyright restrictions but managed to secure permissions this time around, showing up in the way Bush intended originally.
Upon its release, Director's Cut received mostly positive reviews from music critics, and it debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, making it her fifth album to reach the top five.
