Deep Purple

"Abandon" is the sixteenth studio album by the English rock band, Deep Purple. Released in the United Kingdom on June 2, 1998, it is an album that moulds elements of classic rock, blues, and hard rock into a package that reflects the unique style of Deep Purple. The album title is a pun from Ian Gillan – "A Band On" – and the band's last album to feature keyboardist Jon Lord. The album includes "Any Fule Kno That", "Almost Human", and a re-recording of Deep Purple's early hit "Bloodsucker", from their 1970 album "In Rock", this new version titled "Bludsucker." Despite its positive critical reception, "Abandon" didn't perform as well commercially as expected. Nonetheless, the album is still esteemed as a vital addition to the band's discography. It's worth noting that while this was their sixteenth studio album, it was their second one following the reunion of their original members in 1994. The band's lineup for this album included Ian Gillan on vocals, Steve Morse on guitar, Jon Lord on keyboards, Roger Glover on bass, and Ian Paice on drums. Gillan and Morse wrote most of the tracks, but all five band members are credited. The ten-track album runs for approximately 54 minutes and was produced by Roger Glover and Deep Purple.
