Molly Hatchet

"Molly Hatchet" is the self-titled debut album from American southern rock band Molly Hatchet, which was released in 1978. The album reached 64 on the Billboard 200, proving to be a successful launch for the band. It features the band's most notable and successful single, "Flirtin' with Disaster." The album art, by renowned fantasy artist Frank Frazetta, became notably associated with the band, reinforcing Molly Hatchet's blend of Southern rock with a hard-rock energy. This infusion of hard rock influences was a feature that set Molly Hatchet apart from other Southern rock bands of the time, which traditionally leaned more toward the country side of rock and roll. The band for this album consists of six members: Danny Joe Brown, who was the lead vocalist; Dave Hlubek, Duane Roland and Steve Holland on guitars; Banner Thomas on bass; and Bruce Crump on drums. The album, clocking in at just under 37 minutes, is entirely made up of original compositions by the band and was produced by Tom Werman.
