Slayer

"Undisputed Attitude" is the seventh studio album by American thrash metal band Slayer, released on May 28, 1996, by American Recordings. It stands apart as the band's only full-length cover album, wholly dedicated to paying tribute to the punk rock bands that had a crucial influence on the development of the thrash metal genre. The album features 14 tracks, the majority of which are covers of songs by 1980s punk rock bands, including Minor Threat, D.R.I., T.S.O.L., D.I., and The Stooges, among others. This intimate connection to punk rock underscores Slayer’s roots and showcases the driving forces that helped shape their distinctive sound and image in the music industry. "Undisputed Attitude" also includes a track originally written by lead vocalist and bassist Tom Araya during his pre-Slayer days and two original tracks, "Gemini" and the hidden track "Can't Stand You". Significantly, "Gemini" is the album's only purely Slayer-authored song and is the only original Slayer song that features on the album. It demonstrates a slower, heavier style in contrast to the fast-paced intensity of the remaining tracks on the album. The album charted on two major music charts, peaking at number 34 on the Billboard 200 in America and number 37 on the Finnish album charts. The definitive thrash sound combined with punk's raw energy resulted in an album that utterly confirmed Slayer's status as innovators in the heavy metal genre.
