Eric Clapton

"Back Home" is the seventeenth solo studio album by Eric Clapton, released on 29 August 2005 internationally and a day later in the U.S. It marks Clapton's return to original material after his 2001 album Reptile, as the preceding album Me and Mr. Johnson was a collection of Robert Johnson cover songs. Back Home features a mix of pop, blues, and soul influences, with Clapton collaborating with long-time friend and co-producer Simon Climie. The album was well-received by critics, though it did not match the commercial success of some of his earlier works. One notable song from the album is "Say What You Will," which Clapton originally offered to the Japanese boy band SMAP, though they ultimately did not record it. The track became a part of Back Home, showcasing Clapton’s versatility as a songwriter and his ability to cross genres. Back Home was seen as a more introspective and personal album, with Clapton reflecting on his life, relationships, and experiences. Despite its moderate reception, the album continued to solidify Clapton’s legacy as one of the most respected musicians in the world.
