"Melody and the Tyranny" is an EP released by Velvet Revolver as a precursor to their 2007 album Libertad. The EP includes two tracks from Libertad, along with a cover of Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer" and a live version of "Do It for the Kids," a song from their debut album Contraband (2004). The release also featured a documentary on the making of Libertad, which was produced and directed by Rocco Guarino.
The EP was released in Europe and Australia but did not see a release in North America. It was limited to just 5,000 copies, making it a rare collector's item for fans of the band. The EP served as a way to promote Libertad, offering fans a taste of the band's new material as well as some live and bonus content ahead of the album's release. Melody and the Tyranny is a notable release for Velvet Revolver fans, though its limited availability and focus on European and Australian markets made it a bit of a rarity in their discography.
